The layout here is very similar to what you’d expect from a file management tool. Of these options, the one you’ll likely end up using most often is File Management. Also has an option to do this automatically when you connect the drive.

Each brand of flash drive has its own, proprietary app for managing files. Unfortunately, there isn’t really a single way to manage flash drives on iOS. You’ll use an app designed for that drive to actually manage files. Which one means the phone is charging. If you need more storage space on your iPhone, the easiest way to tack some on is with a special flash drive that features a lightning port on one end and a USB port on the other. You see, I don't know whether to jiggle the cable until the lightning bolt is NOT visible, or whether to jiggle it so that it IS visible. So my question is specifically what is the difference? What does the lightning bolt mean? Why has Apple made it so cryptic? Sometimes the lightning bolt, sometimes not, which one means charging? Both? Why have it then? If I jiggle the connection cable the lighning bolt disappears, then reappears, but the low battery symbol is always present. More specifically, my iPhone battery is dead and sometimes the battery symbol shows up WITH the lighning bolt and the battery symbol above it with a small amount of red.

I cannot find a definitive answer anywhere: What does the lightning bolt symbol on iPhone mean?
